Germany’s largest e-commerce exhibition gave both B2C and B2B merchants new impulses. FACT-Finder was as an exhibitor on site.

According to a recent report from Ecommerce Europe, Germany registered a record growth of 22 percent in the online-trading sector last year. This is an uptrend, which is also reflected in the success of the 18th Internet World Exhibition. It took place on 25th and 26th of February 2014 in Munich. As the largest e-commerce event in Germany, Internet World attracted 13,000 visitors, including mainly users and decision makers from the online trade. 311 service and solution providers presented themselves with exhibition stands. Here, the number of international exhibitors has doubled compared to last year.

Whether retailers or wholesalers: At FACT-Finder booth everyone was good advised.

As an exhibitor, we also felt at FACT-Finder booth that the Internet World was very well attended – we appreciated lots of booth visitors, including interested online merchants and existing customers. In personal conversations, we showed among other things solutions to guide online visitors quickly to the most relevant products through self-learning search and navigation and how shop owners manage to control which products are shown in the search results lists.

Concerning the fact that FACT-Finder makes purchase relevant data – such as prices availabilities and additional information – available at all customer touch points, much appeal was also found by merchants with an omnichannel strategy.

Lots of talks at FACT-Finder booth. How FACT-Finder helps to realize different omnichannel scenarios – this was a frequent topic of conversation.

In the meantime, the issue of usability plays a huge role for B2B merchants. Regarding the processing of orders, more and more wholesalers move their processes into the webshop replacing cost-intensive call centers. We presented these vendors how to simplify online purchase processes, how to make additional content like product brochures and data sheets findable in the webshop and how to deliver different prices depending on the merchant customer.

5 Info-Arenas – 100 Expert Lectures.

Shop Software & Technology, Payment & Logistics as well as Usability – all of these were key topics of the Internet World Exhibition. The fair visitors gained practical insights not only from the exhibitors but also in the context of the wide range of information, consisting of:

  • 5 Info arenas that were integrated into the exhibition space. They gave over 100 experts a platform to showcase cutting-edge e-commerce concepts, based on best practices. For example, Stephan Sigloch, Managing Director of NETFORMIC Internet Agency, presented national and international B2B e-commerce projects.

  • A „Fireside Room“, which gave viewers the opportunity to experience e-commerce luminaries in discussing about the future of online trading and to ask their own questions. Among the experts was, for example, Stefan Weitz, Senior Director of Search Bing/Microsoft USA. He viewed the future of multi-screen shopping.
  • A congress with the motto “The Future of E-commerce”, which took place alongside the trade fair. In contrast to the Internet World Exhibition and the integrated range of information, customers had to pay for attending the Congress.

In 2015, Internet World increases further.

This year, the expectations with regard to the fair and the number of visitors were more than fulfilled. “Due to the positive developments, it is already certain that the fair will spatially enlarge,” said Nicole Rüdlin, Head of Congresses & Exhibitions, Neue Mediengesellschaft Ulm mbH.
